Amazon recently launched Amazon Business in Germany. It is a new marketplace on Amazon that combines the selection, convenience and value customers have come to know and love from Amazon, with new features and unique benefits tailored to business buyers. Amazon Business provides easy access to hundreds of millions of products – everything from IT and lab equipment to education and food service supplies – as well as business-only selection and pricing. Amazon Business represents an incredible opportunity to address a vast new market segment and customer base and is an area of high interest for Amazon. We are focused on building solutions that enable business customers find, research, and buy products and services from a vast selection, across multiple devices, marketplaces and regions.
A critical component on Amazon Business is Pay by Invoice which allows buyers to buy products on credit terms. We expect many thousands of buyers to use this feature and Amazon will need to credit assess these buyers and manage a growing portfolio of receivables. We aim to do this in a highly automated and scalable fashion while providing a great customer experience. The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for managing the performance of this credit portfolio. They will have the unique opportunity to contribute to defining product/service offerings and processes while scaling fast with the business. They will contribute to building out the platform by providing thought leadership on new data sources to use, risk indicators to consider, and effective mitigating responses. This is a management role with the PHM overseeing a third party service provider working with Amazon in this space and also directly managing 2 Credit Analysts.
We are looking for a well-rounded business manager with strong industry experience. However, we do not believe that finance or credit operations experience is essential for success in the role. In fact, given that this is a white space for Amazon we are keen to have someone who will look at this from fresh pair of eyes with few pre-conceived notions of how credit operations should be run. We want this person to be a thought leader who can help build best-in-class credit processes from scratch. We expect this person to use this role as a stepping stone to grow into general management positions in Amazon in the future.
German language skills are preferred for interacting with the third party service provider and with some large German customers. The role is based in the Amazon Germany’s corporate office in Munich. Key objectives for role:
- Establishing, constantly improving, and being a thought leader for a credit adjudication and performance monitoring platform
- Defining supporting processes, metrics, and reports for line requests, appeals, disputes, and suspensions
- Directly managing a third party vendor and Credit Analysts responsible for these daily processes
- Owning relationships with Account Receivables and external collectors to establish and manage loss mitigation and recovery processes
- Creating monitoring tools, metrics and reports to assess portfolio health and identify leading indicators of delinquency risk
